"Breast-conserving surgery" (also called a lumpectomy, quadrantectomy, partial mastectomy, or segmental mastectomy) is a surgery in which only the part of the breast containing the cancer is removed.
The goal is to remove the cancer as well as some surrounding normal tissue.
